Exhibition Opening: Exquisite Exhibit: Parlour Games from the Studio Artist Program, 2004-2014
curated by Joey Orr
September 13-October 11, 2014
Opening Reception with ART PARTY: Sat, Sept 13, 7pm-12am

The “exquisite corpse” was a Surrealist parlour game in which three artists collaborated on a portrait or drawing without being aware of what came before or after their respective contributions. The result was considered a picture of the unconscious reality of the group.

This exhibit invites a selection of artists from the past ten years of the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center’s Studio Artist Program to undertake this game. Instead of using paper, the work is installed directly on the gallery walls, engaging the space and amping up the scale of this parlour game to proportions worthy of the institution’s infamous annual ART PARTY.
