Home Is Where the Art Is
Gregor Turk & Murphy Townsend
Off-site
Atlanta Contemporary announces Contemporary Cocktails Off-Site: Home is Where the Art Is. Not all art is only exhibited in museums - some belongs to private art collectors. You are invited to go behind-the-scenes and see some of Atlanta’s best contemporary art collections.
Surgeon, Murphy Townsend, and artist, Gregor Turk, reside in an art-filled 1913 bungalow that reflects their diverse interests. Townsend practices urology at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Turk is known for his public art installations, sculpture and mixed-media constructions that often incorporate mapping, signage and other cultural markings as well as a former studio artist and board member of Atlanta Contemporary.
Their collection includes abstract expressionists James Brooks and Conrad Marca-Relli, sculptors Alexander Calder and Harry Bertoia; photographers Diane Arbus and Sylvia Plachy, contemporary artists Kaws and Takashi Murakami, and a host of Atlanta artists including Fahamu Pecou and Anita Arliss.
