Michael Bell-Smith’s Rabbit Season, Duck Season
Screening
This short film from Brooklyn-based artist Michael Bell-Smith takes its title from a 1951 Looney Tunes cartoon in which Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck seek to evade hunter Elmer Fudd. In the scene, Bugs and Daffy take turns switching signs that say its the other who should be hunted. The film speaks to Bell-Smith’s interest in the use of popular technologies in today’s visual culture.
