The Environmental Witch-Hunt
Screening
A short film from Austrian-born artist Martin Beck, The Environmental Witch-Hunt (2008) speaks to Beck’s interest in how marketing, product design, and other commercial concerns influenced post-war exhibition design. The historically minded artist highlights critic Jean Beaudrillard’s indictment of the 1970 International Design Conference, with excerpts from his manifesto recited beneath the tranquil canopy of an aspen forest in Colorado, where the conference took place.
