Contemporary Critique is a critique program where visual artists are invited to bring new and/or in-progress work for critical feedback and group discussion.

A dedicated facilitator with experience in a group critique setting guides the discussion for each critique program, which will include up to 10 artists’ work, with 15-20 minutes devoted to the work of each.

The facilitator for the first Contemporary Critique program is Daricia Mia DeMarr.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Interested artists must apply to participate in the Contemporary Critique workshop. This workshop is capped at 10 people. Please fill out the application here.

Request will be accepted based on availability and overall completion of the request form. There is a fee of $15 upon acceptance into the program ($10 for Atlanta Contemporary members).

Artists are asked to bring 3 individual pieces (in any medium).

Applications are open from September 11 to October 2, 2019.

Bio

Daricia Mia DeMarr

Daricia Mia is from Los Angeles, California. She launched her collegiate career at Clark Atlanta University but received a BA in Art History from Georgia State University and a master’s degree in Visual Arts Administration from New York University. She is an arts enthusiast, ideas fanatic, curator and visual arts consultant. In 2015 she was invited to curate a special exhibition, ‘Respectfully Yours,’ at the Queens Museum, Bulova Center with renowned street artist Lady Pink. Daricia Mia was the assistant director at the NYU Kimmel Center Galleries organizing and curating over 100 exhibits in five years. She was also the assistant to renowned black art dealer, Peg Alston and gallery manager at Peg Alston Fine Arts in NYC.
