We All See Art.

Founded in 1973 as Nexus, a grassroots artists’ cooperative, Atlanta Contemporary has since become one of the southeast’s leading contemporary art centers. We play a vital role in Atlanta’s cultural landscape by presenting over 200 consequential artists and creatives from the local, national, and international art scenes through our various exhibition, project spaces, and programs each year. Atlanta Contemporary is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and is free admission, every day. We became free admission on September 1, 2015 to increase accessibility to the community of artists and arts enthusiasts in the metro-Atlanta area.

We commission new works, paying particular attention to artists who have not had a significant exhibition in the Southeast. We organize over 125 programs annually including Contemporary Kids, Contemporary Cocktails, Contemporary Talks, and more! Atlanta Contemporary provides 13 on-site subsidized studio spaces to working artists through the Studio Artist Program.

I’m Floyd Hall and I am honored and feel privileged to be the Executive Director of Atlanta Contemporary.

I come to this role with an immense appreciation for Atlanta Contemporary’s legacy as a space of expression, innovation, and community, and I’m excited to continue the institution’s legacy of connecting art and artists of the moment with Atlanta audiences in a way that is engaging, thoughtful, and creates impactful moments of exchange. More importantly, I hope to foster a culture of active support for Atlanta Contemporary that demonstrates that the institution and the communities it serves are a true reflection of each other.

We welcome visitors to experience world-class art at Atlanta Contemporary for free every day, while also inviting individual support to expand our capacity. We welcome artists, curators, and our creative partners to see Atlanta Contemporary as a critical part of your career or organizational growth. We welcome our institutional and corporate neighbors to collaborate with Atlanta Contemporary in ways that advance the cultural significance of the Atlanta Region as a dynamic place to live, work, play, and invest.

The legacy of Atlanta Contemporary is intimately intertwined with that of Atlanta—the city and the people who love it—and I look forward to this new chapter as a transformational opportunity to contribute to both in the most amazing way possible.
