Atlanta Contemporary will serve as the setting for this classic comedy. ART is a critically acclaimed play written by the French playwright Yasmina Reza. The play was written in French and translated to English shortly after its creation and earned the Tony award for Best Play in 1998, shortly after beginning a Broadway run.

“When the Playhouse team first started to think about amazing locations for our new series, Atlanta Contemporary was one of the first spaces that jumped to mind,” says Ryan Oliveti – Artistic Associate at the Playhouse and director of ART. “Their space is so fresh and ART felt like the perfect fit! I cannot wait to place this remarkable piece in a live gallery and immerse the audience in the art culture – giving the classic piece a brand new feel – something that the Playhouse does well!”

Since its inception, Serenbe Playhouse has stunned fans and wowed the masses with productions that defy normal constraints of the stage. By creating immersive productions on Serenbe’s lush farmland and spectacular scenery, the company has garnered press and accolades and made itself a name in innovative theatre. With every show, guests have begged the question, “what will they think up next?” Now, Serenbe Playhouse is headed to the city for a brand new series – Intimate Indoors – with its inaugural productions of Buyer & Cellar and ART. Never ones to settle for traditional venues, the plays will take place in two of Atlanta’s most unique locations. Buyer & Cellar will be performed at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, a world-renowned furnishings boutique and ART will take place in Atlanta Contemporary, a venue dedicated to the advancement of contemporary art. Don’t miss out on these intimate productions, fueled by urban energy, as Serenbe Playhouse sets out to outdo itself yet again.

"Staying true to our mission of being site specific, we are bringing The Playhouse into the city,” says Brian Clowdus – Playhouse Founder & Artistic/Executive Director. “Titles that would never make sense outside but still flourish in an intimate indoor setting is what this new series it all about. Over 75% of our audience resides in metro Atlanta, and we’re excited to bring what we do on an intimate scale into the City! We foresee this also tapping into a new audience demographic with strategic partners like Mitch Gold + Bob Williams and Atlanta Contemporary proving that theatre can happen anywhere and be for everyone.”

Show dates and times for ART are September 8th through 10th at 8pm and 11th at 2pm. Tickets are $25 for Adults, $20 for Students & Seniors. ART will be performed at Atlanta Contemporary. Ticket link forthcoming.
