Crown Connections: A Braiding Workshop Inspired by "This Crown Belongs to US"

Facilitated by Courtney Brooks

Special Event

Join us for "Crown Connections," an empowering and hands-on workshop inspired by Courtney Brooks' powerful fiber art installation, "This Crown Belongs to US."

This special event, presented by Journey of a Black Girl, you to connect, share, and celebrate the artistry and cultural significance of Black hair braiding. Just as the oversized braids in the exhibition highlight the creativity and importance of Black hair practices, this workshop offers a space to learn, practice, and build community around this cherished tradition.

Come ready to learn, connect, and embrace the beauty and power of our hair.

A Cross Pollination Iron Art Event | by Allen Peterson and Friends

Ticketed

We kick off the new year with a performance art event with Allen Peterson and Friends in which crews of sculptors melt scrap iron and pour it into reusable molds to form bird-sized honeybee forms. Like puppets, these bees “fly” through the night in formations inspired by the dance-based language honeybees use to communicate and cooperate inside the hive.
