Atlanta Contemporary is excited to welcome back our friends at Dance Canvas for a unique life drawing experience. Sit amongst the art and follow the flow and movement of the choreographers as you hone your drawing skills.

Dance Canvas returns to Atlanta Contemporary for their 3rd ‘Figures in Motion’ night. Thursday, May 2nd, will feature 2024 Dance Canvas CCDI Choreographer, and her cast of dancers, in her multi-genre dance work, ‘UN/BOUND’.

Atlanta Contemporary is excited to welcome back our friends at Dance Canvas for a unique life drawing experience. Sit amongst the art and follow the flow and movement of the choreographers as you hone your drawing skills.

Dance Canvas returns to Atlanta Contemporary on Thursday March 7th for another ‘Figures in Motion’. This time, we welcome back dancer/choreographer, Billy Hawkains III, who will be joined by dancer Samar Smith. Billy and Samar will move through the space, rehearsing a new work by New Jersey based choreographer, Mamiko Usuda. They will also take participants through their own movement and choreography through guided improvisation, a perfect opportunity to draw these Figures in Motion.

Session & Materials

Beginning at 6:30 pm in the main gallery. Space is limited so make sure to register for your spot.

This event is BYOAS (bring your own art supplies); pencil, charcoal, and sketch pad recommended. Paint will not be allowed in the galleries. Atlanta Contemporary will not be providing art supplies for the event.

Beverages

Although there will be a bartender and card-only bar on site, food and uncovered beverages will not be permitted in the galleries.

Parking

Parking is free in the lot at Bankhead & Means Street (Google Maps Location). You can access the lot via Bankhead Avenue and proceed past the parking attendant booth.

Bios

Löris McIntosh

Löris (Luh·ris) McIntosh, is a multiethnic interdisciplinary choreographer based in metro-Atlanta. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University, where she discovered her passion for choreography as a minor in Dance and Movement Studies. Mentored by Anna Leo, Löris honed her skills in ballet, modern, and choreographic process.

Guided by the mantra “Feed Your Soul,” Löris aims to consistently produce project-based work that center themes of catharsis, self-actualization and metamorphosis. Löris aspires to give back to her community through art activation and plans to establish her own dance retreat program, providing a nurturing and inspiring environment for fellow artists to grow.
