Film Screening of "Live at Club Zebra" with Q and A

with filmmakers David and Matt Adeboyé, Pearl Cleage, and Zaron "Zeke" Burnett

Special Event

Step into the heart of Atlanta’s Black creative renaissance with a special artist talk featuring archivist and curator Rosa Duffy (TALL AND WILD Atlanta 1984–1994), filmmakers David and Matthew Adeboyé (Live at Club Zebra), and legendary writers Pearl Cleage and Zaron “Zeke” Burnett.

This conversation weaves together the rich historical threads explored in TALL AND WILD: Atlanta 1984–1994 and the vibrant, radical spirit captured in Live at Club Zebra—a documentary chronicling the untold story of a bohemian speakeasy that challenged the norms of Black artistic expression in the 1980s and 90s.

Together, the panel will reflect on the power of place, memory, and cultural preservation. From underground salons to archival excavations, this talk invites us to remember and reimagine Atlanta as a city shaped by the daring visions of Black artists who refused to be confined.

Featuring:

  • Rosa Duffy, Artist and Archivist of TALL AND WILD Atlanta 1984–1994

  • David & Matthew Adeboyé, Directors of Live at Club Zebra

  • Pearl Cleage and Zaron “Zeke” Burnett, Writers and Founders of Club Zebra

Hive Collective

A Cross Pollination Iron Art Event | by Allen Peterson and Friends

Ticketed

We kick off the new year with a performance art event with Allen Peterson and Friends in which crews of sculptors melt scrap iron and pour it into reusable molds to form bird-sized honeybee forms. Like puppets, these bees “fly” through the night in formations inspired by the dance-based language honeybees use to communicate and cooperate inside the hive.
