Villa Albertine’s Resident Artist Talk with Lasseindra Lanvin
Join Villa Albertine Atlanta and Atlanta Contemporary on Thursday, May 15, at 6 pm for a special evening featuring acclaimed dancer and choreographer Lasseindra Lanvin, including a screening of the documentary So You Wanna Vogue Huh?! by Zelda Fitzgerald and Ila Pittaluga, followed by an artist talk.
So You Wanna Vogue Huh?! is a 27-minute educative fictive Ballroom documentary directed by Fitzgerald and Pittaluga. Outspokenly against the appropriation of the culture, the film centers the creators of the scene—namely Black trans femmes—in a raw and powerful dialogue. The documentary stars Lasseindra Lanvin, Perry Gits, Naimah 007, and Gaby Vineyard, spotlighting the authentic voices at the heart of the Ballroom movement.
A trailblazer in introducing and developing Ballroom culture in Europe, Lasseindra Lanvin is known for her bold artistic vision and deep commitment to the communities that shape the scene. Her work spans collaborations with major institutions such as the Opéra Garnier, La Villette’s Golden Stage, and the National Ballet of Marseille. In the talk following the screening, she will reflect on her creative journey, her research on queer and Black identity, and her recent residencies at the Cité Internationale des Arts and the Villa Medici.
