Betty Brown (1932-2011) began painting in the 1980s, with a personal sense of perspective, perception and color. Her bright hues and delicate pencil defined the world around her and the world that populated her imagination. Houses could turn sideways. Roads might climb to the sky. Fences would turn a corner and lie down. People and cars might not stand straight, but lean at an angle in an attempt to hold onto a fleeting moment but there is such a sense of awe, of harmony with the environment, that the pictures almost seem to be playing out in real-time.
