Mannequin Death

February 9, 2017 – February 26, 2017

This mesmerizing and jarring video references the inherent violence Immanuel Kant proposes in distinguishing the sublime from the beautiful. Standing on the edge of a pastoral Alpine mountainside, a disembodied mannequin arm enters the screen to push various mannequin figures to their destruction down the rugged cliff into a rocky ravine. It is jarring and hypnotizing to watch these inanimate figuresviolently cascade down an organic, otherwise tranquil landscape. As they fall limbs freely separate themselves from the mannequin’s core confusing our sympathies for their gloom filled fates, with a wicked humor.
