Artist

Aaron Kagan Putt (born in Tucson, AZ) is an artist and educator based in Atlanta, GA, whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses sculpture, painting, drawing, and photographic processes. He holds an MFA and an MA in Art History from Georgia State University and teaches at Emory University. Through hybrid forms that blend architecture and abstraction, his work delves into the utopian drive to build structures that suggest alternative possibilities, while candidly exploring personal doubt and the fragility of optimism. Putt's work has been exhibited at venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA), the National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Minsk, Belarus, and the Kokoka International House Gallery in Kyoto, Japan. Upcoming exhibitions include shows at the Swan Coach House Gallery and Echo Contemporary in Atlanta. He has been an artist in residence at Officina Stamperia del Notaio in Sicily, Italy, and the Vermont Studio Center, among others, and has received grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board. When not in the studio or classroom, you can find him trying to persuade his friends and family to pool their resources to start a commune.
