Jan Rattia creates mostly portrait-based images to depict partial stories that seeks to challenge the viewer through the tension he develops, whether formally or topically. His images, often intensely cinematic in style, explore emotion, masculinity, and, in the end, human connection.
Rattia graduated from the International Center of Photography in New York City in 2012. Tease, his first solo show, explored the world of male exotic dancers through a series of portraits shown at Bridgette Mayer Gallery in Philadelphia in 2013.
Rattia’s work has been exhibited at ClampArt, NYC; the International Center of Photography; the Camera Club NY; the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center; Art Miami; and Dallas Art Fair, among others.
He was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and now lives and works in Atlanta.
