Joni Mabe lives and works in Athens, GA. n M.F.A. recipient from the University of GA, and Georgia native, Joni Mabe currently lives in Athens, GA. She is a Ford Foundation fellow from 1981 and a fellow of the Southeastern Center of Contemporary Art /RJ Reynolds, 1987. Best known for her Traveling Museum of Obsessions, Personalities & Oddities, which was presented by Zero One Gallery, Hollywood, CA and O.K. Harris Gallery in New York, NY, Mabe has garnered a unique artistic perspective. The exhibitions, Ten Men I’ve Slept With, Athens, GA 1983 and I Wanted to Have Elvis’ Baby but Jesus Said It Was a Sin, Nexus Gallery, Atlanta, GA 1984, further define her ideology. Joni Mabe’s published books include: Untold Story and Joni Mabe’s Museum Book, Nexus Press.
