The Homeless Period Project was founded in 2015 with a singularly focused mission to provide menstrual hygiene products to homeless living in shelters and on the street. After three years of volunteering in shelters, schools and churches, we recognize the problem of lack of access to menstrual hygiene is both tremendous and global. It is a problem that affects menstruation-age of all ethnicities and in all communities. The obstacle to access exists in schools, workplaces and homes — even requiring some to choose between food and hygiene.

In 2018, we expanded our mission to advocate on behalf of all because the need is far greater than we first realized. This cycle must be broken.

The Homeless Period Project is headquartered in Greenville, SC. We’re changing the world one community at a time by creating awareness and delivering menstrual hygiene products to those in need. We are part of a worldwide movement of similarly-focused NGOs and are accelerating the momentum by incubating ideas and exchanging mutual aid.
