ATLANTA—September 27– Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (Atlanta Contemporary) is pleased to announce a new Contemporary Talks series On Collecting with Max Teicher of Gagosian.
Contemporary Talks connects audiences with some of the most influential national thinkers and doers in art and culture working today. The series On Collecting will comprise of three lectures to be held over the course of the fiscal year.
Lecture 1: Starting an Art Collection
- Where to start, understanding the vocabulary, and how to avoid making mistakes
- What defines a collection and how to find focus and direction
- What being a collector means – as philanthropist, lender, and mentor
Lecture 2: Building a Collection
Lecture 3: Preserving a Collection
Aimed at teaching you everything you wanted to know about the contemporary art market, the series invites expert Max Teicher of Gagosian to share invaluable and privileged real-world information with emerging, established, and sustained patrons of the arts.
About Max Teicher
Teicher has been with Gagosian since 2008, where he's had the opportunity to witness the expansive growth of the gallery to what it is today - an international contemporary art gallery that has moved outward from New York City to encompass sixteen gallery spaces worldwide. He has worked with diverse collections - domestic and international - thanks to the artists the gallery has exhibited and the exhibitions that have taken place at the gallery.

Larry Gagosian opened his first gallery in Los Angeles in 1980, specializing in modern and contemporary art. Five years later, he expanded his activities to New York, inaugurating his first Chelsea gallery with an exhibition of works from the Pop art collection of Emily and Burton Tremaine. Founded in 1973 as Nexus, a grassroots artists’ cooperative, Atlanta Contemporary has since become one of the southeast’s leading contemporary art centers.
