Following the opening of her solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, artist, author and filmmaker Sophia Al Maria joins ART PAPERS LIVE in Atlanta for a video presentation. Immediately after the presentation of Al-Maria’s work, she and ART PAPERS contributor Shumon Basar will discuss identity and becoming, in and around that intangible sphere known as the Global South.
Bios
Sophia Al Maria
Sophia Al-Maria works at the intersection of technology, culture, and identity, where she explores 21st-century life in the Arabian Gulf through art, writing, and filmmaking.
Shumon Basar
Shumon Basar is a writer, editor, and cultural critic, who recently co-authored The Age of Earthquakes: A Guide to the Extreme Present with Douglas Coupland and Hans Ulrich Obrist (Penguin/Blue Rider, 2015).
