Atlanta Contemporary welcomes a local bartender to become the Mixologist-in-Residence – here we invite the purveyors of Atlanta’s cocktail culture to share their story – over a finely crafted drink – with our audiences.

Bio

Jessica Smith

Jessica is kind of a newcomer to bartending. In February of 2019 she entered her fourth year as a bartender. She is what she calls the HEAD ALCHEMIST & SPIRITUAL ADVISOR at Urban Tree Cidery…Atlanta’s first and ONLY cidery. Her title is a very wordy way to call herself the lead Mixologist and Bar Manager. In 2018 she took SECOND PLACE at the HIGH MUSEUM’S Highgball competition. She has been published on numerous occasions in anything from cookbooks and magazines to websites, such as SUPERCALL. In July of 2018 she was BARTENDER’S MAGAZINE’S Bartender of the Month. She has also done several collaborations both local and national with WICKED WEED and EGAN’S IRISH WHISKEY. When she is not behind the bar she can be found holding cocktail classes at Urban Tree, where she puts her own spin on cocktails by highlighting locally produced spirits and the cider that is made by Urban Tree. In her spare time (which doesn’t really exist) she is a functioning mother of 4 children. 2 girs and 2 boys…if your math is right that is 4. Their ages are 17, 16, 14, and 12. She recently ditched the mini van in favor of something much less practical…a NISSAN MURANO. She also enjoys short naps (in the aforementioned Nissan) in between working and picking the kids up from school and she can be found day dreaming about moving to the Pacific Nothwest in her yet to be built tiny house.
