Slump
An informal conversation between artist Jerstin Crosby and artist/LabSpace gallery co-director Julie Torres about her painting titled Slump led to a group exhibition at LUMP in September 2023. The concept, inspired by Torres’ approach to painting, focused on a broadly shared, but rarely acknowledged, mood through artworks that flop, clump, sag, dangle, droop, go limp, sprawl, loaf, slouch or fall flat.
